Turning less into more
For the Notre Dame coaching staff, summer school meant a trip to visit the Carolina Panthers coaching staff. But special teams assistant Brian Polian went for some extra credit.
Not only did Polian meet with the Panthers' special teams staff and pick the brain of Carolina kicker John Kasay, he also work shopped with Tampa Bay Buccaneers special teams coach Rich Bisaccia during the Notre Dame coaches clinic and spent two days at the Indianapolis Colts training camp. For Polian, the youngest member of the Irish coaching staff, all advice is welcome.
"It's a working family day when I get to go there," said Polian, whose father Bill Polian serves as the Colts president. "If I come out of there with one new thought, one new idea, one new way of how to do things better, then it was worth the trip."
