O'Dowd has four of six
Tucson, Ariz., Salpointe Catholic offensive lineman Kristofer O'Dowd has started to narrow his focus on where he'd like to spend the next four years of his life.
The four-star guard currently has four schools he will continue to consider as fall approaches, with a total of six schools eventually making his first cut. The Trojans have tried hard to stay in the hunt.
In June, O'Dowd was one of several highly ranked offensive linemen to attend USC's Rising Senior Camp. While O'Dowd made the trip to Los Angeles to spend the day competing against defensive linemen like Everson Griffen, Sam Acho and Kenny Rowe , his camp experience ended abruptly with an injury.
"I flew into Los Angeles the morning of the camp," said O'Dowd. "I got warmed up and we started with three drills. We did some run blocking drills first and then a pass block drill, which is where I got hurt.
"I was playing center and hit my hand against the defensive lineman. I heard something tear, but then my hand went numb, so I didn't think it was a big deal. When I went up again, the second time I hit the defender with that hand I heard it pop. That's when I knew something was wrong.
"The doctors said I broke the bone on my ring finger, which extends down to my hand. I get my cast off this week, and then I should be fully healed in another two weeks."
