Jones excited to be a Yellow Jacket

Chamblee, Ga., running back Roddy Jones had narrowed his choices between Georgia Tech and Clemson earlier in the week and he was hoping to have a decision after he took visits to both campuses. Yesterday, Jones spent time in South Carolina to check out the Tigers and he was back at Tech on Friday to meet with the coaches.


Long considered a Tech lean, Jones made it official when he committed to head coach Chan Gailey Friday afternoon.


"I committed to Tech today," Jones said via cell phone. "We had set up a visit earlier this week to come down on Saturday, but because I'm playing baseball this week I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it tomorrow. We decided to come down today. After taking a visit to Clemson yesterday, we sat down last night and this morning. My mom, my dad and my grandmother, we all sat down and we decided that we had seen everything we needed to see from both schools and to go ahead and make a decision. We just decided that Tech was the best fit for me."
