Blaine Irby: 'I expect us to do big things'

On his thoughts on the commitment:

We kind of felt in the end that Texas was the best place. So my dad, my brother and I went up there this past weekend and we just felt like it was the place for me.

On when the commitment became official:

On Saturday. During the past couple of days, I called every coach from the other schools that I was considering just to let them know that I was going to be committing to Texas. I thought that they should know from me personally instead of reading it on the websites. I did call the Texas coaches (on Thursday) to let them know that I was announcing it. He was fired up.

On which coach was recruiting him for Texas and the coach's reaction when he got word of the commitment:

It was coach Bobby Kennedy. He's on vacation right now, but he's fired up. He's excited and just really happy that I'm going there.
