Five-Star DT Talks About Knoxville Trip

Regardless of how recruiting turns out for Tennessee in the '07 Class, it's difficult to find fault with the Vols' early efforts in terms of getting prospects to campus in the offseason. This past week has seen a steady progression of players holding offers drift through town to attend camp, including Rivals.com five-star defensive tackle Joseph Barksdale from Detroit, Mich.


Barksdale (6-foot-6, 323 pounds, 4.9 40-yard dash), from Cass Tech high school in Detroit, has consistently mentioned the Vols as school of interest since early in the process, but the commitment to make the effort to get to Knoxville for camp signals that his level of interest is more than passing.


"I really liked it a lot down there, I was actually sort of surprised by the town itself, it was a lot better than I expected," Barksdale said of Knoxville. "As far as the campus and the football part of things, that was all great.


"I got to talk with the coaches, coach Adkins who's my main recruiter, and (defensive line) coach Brooks was a cool guy. I also had a chance to meet coach Fulmer. He was really energetic and you can tell that he's genuinely concerned about his players."
