Florida LB gets UA offer

Linebackers, like oranges, seem to grow on trees in the Sunshine State with Florida producing high quality prospects at that position year in and year out.


This year South Sumter High School is home to one of the best in Kendall Smith, 6-foot-1, 210-pounds and the Brusnell native picked up his first offer from a BCS conference program on Tuesday.


"Chris Ball called and told me I had an offer. I knew they were thinking about it but I never expected an offer so soon or from a school like Alabama," Smith said. "When I started playing football I just thought I would be another guy who would play, graduate and get on with life. But with Alabama offering I know I have the talent to do special things and I'm very excited about that."
