Miller blowing up
May 1 is the magic date for college recruiters across the country, the first and only time until September that coaches can actually contact recruits directly over the phone.
The date has lost its luster to an extent with the advent of junior days, visits to spring games and text messaging, but there's nothing at this stage of the process that means more to a recruit than that first phone call.
For DeSoto prospect Von Miller, the first call came bright and early.
Florida call at 7 a.m. to offer a scholarship. Texas Tech, Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado State, Wisconsin, Texas A&M and Kansas have offered as well.
