Black-Gold Game: 5 answered questions

The week leading up to the Black-Gold spring game, Coach Ross announced that the team had voted senior offensive lineman Peter Bier (Milton, Wis.), wide receiver, Walter Hill (Randalstown, Md.), linebacker, Barrett Scruggs (Tampa, Fla.) and defensive end, Cameron Craig (Garden City, Kan.) as captains for the 2006 campaign.


Also ocurring this past week were the annual Spring Football Awards, that went to Caleb Campbell, Matt Weisner, David Pevoto, Sean Grevious, Jordan Murray and Owen Tolson.


So going into the Black-Gold game, there's always a sense on anticipation and excitement. All the players are looking to make a final impression on the coaching staff and establish their status (depth chart) on the team.


Well, the game ended with only 6 points scored, which came on 5 yard touchdown run in overtime by Michael Herndon. Even with the defensive dominated game, there were some familiar and new faces ready to make an impact this upcoming season.


GoBlackKnights.com posted a pre-Black/Gold Spring Game article on, "5 things to look for..." during Saturday's contest. We asked these questions prior to spring practice, some were answered and some weren't. But we will take a look at a few that we felt were answered, although net results of Saturday leave some answers not completely clear.
