Monday morning thoughts following the Georgia win

Vanderbilt scored a huge upset of Georgia on Saturday, and VandySports.com's Chris Lee gives his thoughts on that (and more) after having two days to process it.


Putting it all into perspective

Much had been made about how coach James Franklin hadn't beaten a ranked team yet, and the third-year head coach -- who is now an unthinkable 19-14 in two-and-a-half seasons in Nashville -- now has that monkey off his back with Saturday's 31-27 victory over No. 15 Georgia. Now, everybody knows Todd Gurley and a host of significant offensive players didn't play on Saturday, and that's obviously worth noting.



However, the Bulldogs still threw a whole lot of talent on the field. Consider this: of Georgia's 22 starters on offense and defense, there were two 5-star recruits, 14 four-star recruits, and five 3-star recruits. That's an average of 3.68 yards per starter, and that didn't include 5-star recruit Ray Drew, Georgia's most highly-regarded defensive lineman, who didn't start. (Of course, Drew also got kicked out in the first half for a controversial targeting call.)
