Mullen Impressed with Bulldog Performance
Mississippi State was coming off of a heartbreaking loss. The Bulldogs had just lost another tough game in the last seconds at Auburn. Dan Mullen looked around in the locker room and, while it was somber, saw players that were hungry for redemption. Redemption is just what they got on Saturday night in one of the most explosive performances in school history. MSU knocked out the Troy Trojans 62-7 for the biggest scoring outputs in Mullen's career and biggest at MSU in nearly 20 years.
"That was a great team effort by our guys," Mullen said. "Defense did a heck of a job holding a team like Troy to 186 yards. That's a pretty special performance by our defense. We've had a bunch of injuries by the defense but the next guy is always ready to step in and go play. I think we were pretty efficient on offense spreading the ball around. With a young group of guys, we need to continue to improve. We're going to watch this film and there's going to be a lot of things we'll have to correct. I thank our crowd, they gave us that home field advantage tonight and they've done that a lot. Going into a bye week, hopefully we'll get healed up and give ourselves an opportunity to compete against LSU."
