NOTEBOOK: OL grows from 2012 struggles


AUBURN | The offensive line struggled throughout the 2012 season, though that shouldn't have been completely unexpected.


Both tackle spots were manned by freshmen. And a new offense, one much different than the fast-paced, misdirection attack favored by Malzahn, had been installed.


Things have changed dramatically over the course of the past year. Left tackle Greg Robinson said Friday that last season's calamities elicited solidarity among the offensive linemen. A return to Malzahn's offensive system, one that lured many of them to the Plains in the first place, has only stoked enthusiasm and optimism along the line of scrimmage.


"We've built a good bond between one another. It helps to encourage one another," Robinson said. "We're so close now; I can (talk to) whoever is inside of me and they might respond a little better since we're a little closer now."
