Two wins are all that stands between Mississippi State and the College World Series.
However, if the Bulldogs want to make it to Omaha they will have to go through No. 6 national seed Virginia in the Charlottesville Super Regional.
Game one is slated for a noon central first pitch from Davenport Field (5,074).
MSU is making its fifth appearance in a Super Regional and it's second in the past three years. The Diamond Dogs are 3-6 all-time in Super Regional appearances.
Today will mark the first ever meeting on the Diamond between the two programs.
State advanced by posting a 3-1 record and winning the Starkville Regional last weekend. The Bulldogs are 46-18 on the year and ranked 13th nationally.
Mississippi State defeated Central Arkansas 6-1 in the championship game on Monday. Senior Chad Girodo, a ninth round draft pick of the Blue Jays, struck out 12 batters in 6 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the win. Junior right fielder Hunter Renfroe, a first round draft pick of the Padres, paced the Diamond Dogs 11 hit attack going 3-for-4 with three singles and two runs batted in.
