By his own admission, Matthew Davis was a late bloomer during his junior season.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound defensive end came up big for South Panola (Miss.) High School when the Tigers needed him most in November claiming yet another Class 6A State Championship.
Davis notched 14 tackles, three sacks and forced two fumbles during the final month of the season to become one of South Panola's leaders on the defensive side of the ball.
"I came on strong at the end of the season," Davis said. "I got first team, All-State this past season and just was a late bloomer."
Davis finished the year with 50 tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and two pass deflections.
