Pre-Spring Roundtable: Let's Talk MSU O-Line

EAST LANSING - SpartanMag.com correspondent Rico Beard subs in for Paul Konyndyk for today's SpartanMag.com pre-spring practice Roundtable Discussion.

Today, let's talk offensive line.

The questions:

1. Michigan State is returning seven offensive linemen with starting experience. Which five do you see emerging as the starters, and at what positions?

2. Who is the standout of the group?

3. Who needs to step it up this spring?

Rico Beard Says ...

My starting five on the offensive line will be:

C - Travis Jackson (6-3, 280, Jr.)
OG - Jack Allen (6-1, 195, Soph.)
OG - Blake Treadwell (6-3, 300, Sr.)
OT - Skylar Burkland (6-7, 315, Jr.)
OT - Fou Fonoti (6-4, 296, Sr.)

I think the standouts of the group will be Travis Jackson and the two tackles. Jackson's experience and skills will help in anchoring this offensive line. Hopefully, he can stay injury-free.

I think Fou Fonoti should replace Dan France at OT. Fonoti, coming off of his injury from last year, will be an upgrade to the much-maligned France. Fonoti's and Burkland's experience should give MSU's quarterback good protection from the edges.
