LSU preview

The last two times Mississippi State and LSU have met on the hardwood it has resulted in a last second basket by Anthony Hickey to give the Tigers the win.

Two weeks ago Hickey buried a floater in the lane to give LSU a 69-68 victory continuing the Bulldogs string of losses that is now up to nine. MSU hopes to exact a little revenge on the Bayou this afternoon at 4 p.m.

LSU leads the series 106-97 dating back to 1909. The Tigers have a 30-game lead in games played in Baton Rouge with a 65-35 edge. LSU claimed last year's game inside the Maravich Assembly Center 58-57 after Hickey hit a buzzer beater.

In the game two weeks ago, the Bulldogs squandered a 17-point lead making just 13-of-27 shots from the free throw line. Freshman forward Gavin Ware led State with 14 points and seven rebounds in that contest while the Tigers were paced by Hickey and Johnny O'Bryant scoring 12 points each.

The Bulldogs latest loss Wednesday night marked the worst home setback in school history. Mississippi State was blown out 78-36 by Missouri in a game in which the Bulldogs only had 10 points at halftime. Sophomore point guard Trivante Bloodman was the only MSU player in double figures with a career-high 13 points.
