Tech defeats Jackson State, 84-75

It's 11-1 Jackson State four minutes into the half and if you didn't think the Red Raiders were going to have their hands full against No. 9 Arizona on Saturday you had to now.

Jackson State was 0-2 entering Monday's game at the United Spirit Arena, ultimately a 84-75 Tech win, and giving the Red Raiders everything they wanted early.

The shots weren't falling. Tech was turning it over right and left which made Monday's first half a neck-and-neck affair. It was a red flag kind of half as Jackson State took a 33-30 lead to the locker room.

But Tech (4-0) pulled itself together in the second half with a 6-0 run and began to get some breathing room. It was a win, but even head coach Chris Walker would tell you it was an ugly win.

Fine by him. Not every non-conference win will come by double digits, and it allowed his young squad to face some adversity as they surely will Saturday in Lubbock.
