Minnesota FB visits Iowa

At Minneapolis Washburn, highly recruited running back Jeff Jones has drawn most of the headlines, but the team has another talented ball carrier in fullback Raymonte Maynard. In fact, the 5-foot-9, 200-pound Maynard was actually Washburn's leading rusher this year, averaging 14.2 yards per carry in racking up 1,108 yards and 13 touchdowns. Now, he is on the radar of college recruiters as well.

"From what I'm hearing so far, a few colleges like me at running back," said Maynard. "My coach said Minnesota is starting to show some interest and the school I'm probably hearing the most from right now is Iowa."

On Saturday, Maynard joined a group of recruits from the Twin Cities in visiting Iowa to watch the Hawkeyes host Purdue. It was the second trip to Kinnick Stadium this season for the Class of 2014 prospect.

"I went down to Iowa today with Jeff Jones, Connor Keane, and Andre Hunt," Maynard said. "We had a chance to talk to the coaches and they're highly interested in me. They said we'll talk more after their season is over."
