Commitment No. 17: John Curtis LB Eric Thomas
It did not take long for River Ridge John Curtis linebacker Eric Thomas to respond Tulane's scholarship offer on Thursday morning. His answer was an immediate yes.
Thomas (5-feet-10, 238 pounds), who did not have any offers from other schools, had been recruited by Southern and Nicholls State of the football championship subdivision as well as Marian University, an NAIA school in Indiana. He was not about to pass up the chance to play for a major college program in his hometown.
"It's a great opportunity," Thomas said. "I think I'll have the chance to start early."
Tulane's coaches are building an excellent relationship with one of the powerhouse high school programs in the nation. John Curtis, which has won 24 state titles and reached the championship game in 16 consecutive seasons, has produced three of the Green Wave's 17 commitments for 2013. Thomas joins offensive lineman Brandon Godfrey, a 3-star recruit, and defensive back Richard Allen, a 2-star recruit.
John Curtis is 8-0 and has outscored its opponents 361-31 this year.
