Greasin' The Rails: On Jovon Robinson

AUBURN -- It's been a mystifying 18 hours since revelations surfaced about academic impropriety surrounding Auburn freshman tailback [db]Jovon Robinson[/db].

Here's what we know:

An academic counselor at Memphis' Wooddale High, where Robinson matriculated, has resigned after admitting to changing a grade. Though that student wasn't identified directly in the Memphis City Schools' short release about the situation, it's now clear that Robinson is the student in question.

The school system began an investigation earlier this month and the NCAA joined in at some point during the past week. Auburn received official word about the evolving situation on Thursday and elected to withhold Robinson from the Tigers' practices on Friday.

The timing was critical.

If Robinson is determined to be academically ineligible, Auburn would have been in position to forfeit any wins in which the freshman participated. Talk about a blight.

So what happens next?
