Brown comfortable at Wake and UNC
Durham (NC) Jordan athlete (running back and defensive back) John Brown received his first offer Wednesday, May 23 when Navy came forward with the invitation.
"I'm enjoying the [recruiting] process," Brown said. I feel like I'll start getting [more] offers after I go to camps, and then from there that's when I'll start making my decision and narrowing down my choices. It'll probably happen during late summer."
The 5-foot-11, 187-pound Brown plans to camp at Duke, NC State, North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest this summer.
Coaches from Duke, Furman, NC State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, William & Mary and some others have dropped by Jordan to scout Brown. Delaware and UVA are also showing interest.
Of the schools showing interest Brown thinks Wake and Duke are the closest to coming up with his next scholarship offer(s).
"My coach told me that when the Wake Forest coach was talking to him he said that they're recruiting two running backs and that I was one of the running backs that they were looking at," Brown said. "I would say that I'm most comfortable there [Wake] and Carolina right now."
"I haven't heard much from them [UNC] except from an e-mail [from Randy Jordan about a month ago] that was telling me about coming to camp and they want to work hands on with me and just telling me to be patient."
The school he chooses to attend must have a good business program, as he intends to study business-marketing in college. Brown does not want to be too close to home, which he said gives Wake Forest a slight edge.
Derrick Jackson is recruiting Brown for the Demon Deacons.
"I think we have a pretty good relationship," Brown said. "I've been messaging him on Facebook a little bit."
When Brown camps at the various schools he plans to this summer he will ask the coaches if they want him to start at running back or defensive back, but the Durham product believes most of them will want the ball in his hands.
NC State is still in the mix for Brown after he attended its spring game last month.
"It was a pretty good experience other than the rain that came," Brown said. "They have great fan support there."
He rushed for 860 yards, while Jordan struggled to a 3-8 record.
