An emerging force
B.J. Gladden, remember the name.
The Charlotte (NC) Kennedy Charter rising junior, 6-foot-5, 210-pound small forward claims 11 scholarship offers, including the likes of Virginia Commonwealth, Wake Forest and Xavier. Look for more programs to join the list, especially top tier ones.
"I'm not going to single anything out," Gladden said. "I'm a sophomore in high school. I'm going to see what I can work with."
Jeff Battle is recruiting Gladden for the Demon Deacons.
"I used to talk to him once a month at a point," Gladden said. "My dad has heard from him a lot."
Gladden, who describes himself as powerful for his position, has a flaw that he admits too
effort. While that is concerning it is something he can control, and he is working to go hard all of the time without taking possessions off.
Effort did not appear to be an issue with him Saturday, March 24 at Dave Telep's Carolina Challenge in Raleigh. He finished tied for second in scoring at the one-day with an average of 15.7 points in three games.
Gladden averaged 14.9 points per game to help lead Kennedy Charter to a 24-3 record last season.
