MLK's Allen has CMU offer

With spring practice only weeks away, the Central Michigan coaching staff is already looking for talent for its recruiting class of 2013. One of those prospects is Detroit (Mich.) Martin Luther King defensive back Mycial Allen.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Detroit native already has an offer from the Chippewas, which is his only offer right now. Many Midwest schools have also shown interest towards Allen including Bowling Green, Toledo, Indiana and Michigan State.

"Central Michigan has shown a lot of interest in me and they are the only school that has offered me a scholarship so far."

Allen has a list of attributes that is looking for in both a school and a program. Academics, a positive school environment and a good coaching staff lead the way, in terms of importance.

"Number one has to be academics. I have a future ahead of me; I plan to be a real estate broker. The second thing I look for is the atmosphere and the environment with the way they like to help people out. The third thing is the coaching staff and how they encourage going to school."

Allen has been interacting with CMU defensive line coach Vinson Reynolds throughout the recruiting process. Reynolds and the rest of the CMU staff are recruiting Allen to play wide receiver.

Allen has visited Bowling Green and CMU so far. His next visit will be to East Lansing and Michigan State on Saturday, February 25.

"The visit to CMU was great. Everybody really showed me love and showed me that they really wanted me there."

Allen will not make a decision regarding his commitment until after his senior season.
