Fordon has high aspirations

Driving home after completing his ACT Saturday afternoon, Brian Fordon felt pretty good about the roughly four-hour examination.

"The only thing that got me a little was the science," he said. "Other than that, I thought it went."

The confident response is likely common for students who carry a 4.0 GPA. Such is the case for Fordon, who, through a combination of academics and football, is trying to land at one of the top universities in the country.

"My goal has always been to get to the highest academic school or standing as possible," the 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior told BadgerBlitz.com. "Playing in the Ivy League has been a dream of mine. If football could get me in there then that would really be awesome.

"But schools like Wisconsin and Northwestern are right up there, too. Those schools have excellent academic reputations."

Wisconsin, according to Fordon, has shown a good deal of interest.

"So far they (UW) have invited me to a bunch of spring practices," said Fordon, who attends school at Providence Catholic in Illinois. "I'm not sure about their junior day yet, but I've been getting a lot of stuff about spring ball and things about the university.

"Of all the mail I've been getting, I probably get the most from Wisconsin. It's always been a dream to play at a school like that."

Fordon plays alongside his cousin, Jack Fordon, who has been invited to junior days at Wisconsin, Minnesota and Boston College, among others. The two have teamed up for a handful of unofficial visits over the last few weeks.

"I've been to Illinois twice recently and I'll probably be hitting up some practices when they get going," Brian Fordon said. "I also went to Western Michigan's junior day and I've been to Indiana twice. I'm also hearing from Harvard, Dartmouth and Princeton.

"I'm just looking forward to my senior season. I want to go out on top."
