Ole Miss preview

Mississippi State will venture on the road for the second time in league play hoping for better results than the first.

The 15th ranked Bulldogs will travel to Ole Miss tonight at 8 p.m. to take on their instate rival and hoping to push their winning streak to six straight against the Rebels.

In fact, MSU head won more games against Ole Miss than any other school holding a 138-105 edge in the series. The Rebels hold the advantage in games played in Oxford 77-43 but the Bulldogs have claimed the last three inside Tad Smith Coliseum. If State can win tonight it would be first time they have won four straight on the road in the series since 1914-16.

Bulldog head coach Rick Stansbury holds a 20-7 record against the Rebels and is 7-6 in Oxford, the most wins against any other opponent as well as at any opposing arena.

Mississippi State has swept the series in each of the past two years claiming a 69-64 win on the road and a 71-58 game at home last season. During last season's win at the Tad Pad, Dee Bost and Renardo Sidney combined to score 49 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs.

MSU comes into tonight's game at 2-1 in conference play and 15-3 overall. The Bulldogs bounced back from a tough 10-point league loss on the road at Arkansas with back-to-back home wins over Tennessee and Alabama. Against Alabama on Saturday, the SEC's Player of the Week Arnett Moultrie scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
