Thompson's Turnaround

January 17, 2012 - When you look at the stats, Hoya junior forward Hollis Thompson/a> had a stellar game, logging 20 points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals, playing all but three minutes against St. John's, Sunday. There is little doubt his three ball with 6:16 to play was a back breaker for St. John's, who had enjoyed an 8-0 run prior to it, winnowing their deficit to 48-45. The Johnnies would fall 69-49, never again getting that close. Such is the work of all-league caliber players.

But a closer examination reveals an interesting development; Thompson scored all those points, in the second half, going 0-6 in the first stanza (including missing four three pointers), while also turning the ball over twice. That's clearly not the work of an All-BIG EAST guy.

What's the story with missing all your first half shots, and making all of your second half ones, including going five of five from long distance?
