Bennett lists three

If Wake Forest wants Columbus (Ga.) Carver defensive tackle Derious Bennett it will have to make a strong, concerted effort in its pursuit after him.

The 6-foot-1 and 270-pound prospect claims scholarship offers from Arkansas, Colorado State, Duke, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Middle Tennessee, NC State, Southern Miss and Tennessee.

"Right now my top three are Arkansas, Middle Tennessee and Colorado State," Bennett said. "Wake is kind of in the picture, but not that much."

Brian Knorr is recruiting Bennett for the Demon Deacons. Bennett said he last spoke with Knorr a couple of weeks ago.

"Coach Knorr is a real down to earth guy," Bennett said. "I went [to Wake] one time. I think it was during [the] pre-season right before the season started."

He has official visits scheduled with Middle Tennessee this weekend and Colorado State next weekend, and does not know if he will take one to Wake.

"Colorado State, I have a good relationship with the coaches," Bennett said. "They have a new head coach [Jim McElwain] coming in, the offensive coordinator from Alabama. I have a good relationship with him. There's just a real tight bond between me and the coaches. Middle Tennessee, I have a real tight bond with the players and the coaches."

Bennett wants to use the other three official visits allotted to him, but has not decided where he wants to take them. He added that he would like to make a trip to Arkansas.

Before he makes his decision Bennett wants to take all of his visits and have a good talk with his family. He anticipates this process will be completed before Signing Day.

He had 68 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 12 sacks to help lead Carver to a 12-2 record and a fourth-round appearance in the state playoffs.
