Detroit preview

No. 17 Mississippi State ventures away from home this morning into a hostile road environment for the first time all season.

The Bulldogs have had two neutral court battles this season but today take on Detroit inside Calihan Hall in the Motor City at 11 a.m.

"They are very good," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "You saw them beat St. Johns and saw them go to Alabama and get beat by eight last week. They are very good and just got their big kid (Eli Holman) back. They didn't have him against St. Johns. He's a player of the year candidate in that league so it's going to be a challenge for us."

The two teams met for the first time on the hardwood last year with MSU claiming an 82-76 win over the Titans. The Bulldogs relied on 10 3-pointers in that contest and a 10-of-15 shooting night from Ravern Johnson who finished with 25 points.

State is 3-4 all-time against teams from the Horizon League but have won the last two matchups.
