Georgia TE chooses the Tide
The University of Alabama football team picked up its second commitment from Buford High School (Ga.) for the 2012 class when tight end Kurt Freitag chose the Crimson Tide over the Florida Gators on Monday. Freitag becomes the 21st commitment for UA's 2012 class.

Rivals Southeastern Recruiting Analyst Keith Niebuhr watched Freitag last Friday in a Georgia high school football playoff game and came away impressed by the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder's athleticism. Freitag spoke about the Crimson Tide program after the game.
"Alabama just has a great coaching staff," Freitag told Neibuhr. "It's a prestigious coaching staff. They've got great tradition. It's a lot like the school I'm going to now. Florida has a whole new coaching staff and Will Muschamp is a great guy. Derek Lewis is a great guy. Charlie Weis is a great guy. All the coaches, I can't say enough about them."
Freitag compares favorably to current UA tight end Brad Smelley not only in size but also in athleticism. People forget how athletic Smelley was coming out of Tuscaloosa's American Christian Academy, playing both ways, including quarterback. Freitag shows his ability as an effective defensive end, a better-than-average blocker and a tight end with good size, speed and hands. He appears a natural fit iin the Crimson Tide's offense at tight end/H-back.
