Ducks land big WR

The Oregon Ducks scored big on the recruiting front Tuesday as one of the nation's top wide receivers chose the Ducks over Ohio State in a ceremony at Taft high school.

6-foot-5, 190 pound Cincinnati, Ohio-area standout Dwayne Stanford decided to take his game out west and play for Chip Kelly.

Stanford visited Eugene this past weekend, and his overall impressions were positive.

"It was great," said Stanford. "Seeing the athletic facilities for the first time, that was amazing. Then going to the game; the game atmosphere was crazy as well. I just had a great overall visit from every standpoint."

Important in his decision was his mom, though he made the trip to Eugene by himself.

"No sir, mom could not make this trip," said Stanford. "I came by myself. She wasn't really concerned about the football at Oregon. She really wanted to know about academics. I told her that they had just built a new academic facility for all the athletes that is top notch. They have tutors for all the athletes that need help, and just all the academic pieces I would need. I told her it was a great place. All the players, everybody out here in Eugene are just nice people."
