The best month of the year

Some will say that the most wonderful time of the year is the Christmas season, and who doesn't like getting gifts, but for me it is October. The end of summer brings the best month of the year for sports fans across the country. It brings us the sights and sounds of college football rivalries, the excitement of playoff baseball, the National Football League heats up, and the start of college basketball practice. (Usually, you can include and NBA training camp, but maybe not this year.)
In the past the Fighting Illini have had some great things happen in October and this month sets up as a big one for both the basketball and football teams as they try to make waves on the field in football and on the recruiting front in basketball.

4-0…5-0…6-0…How Far Can They Go?

The Illinois football team is 4-0, but the lack of hype is astounding. They are ranked in both polls, coming off of a season in which they won a bowl game, and have beaten a ranked opponent already in Arizona State, a team that thrashed USC last weekend. They can open some eyes over the next two weeks with wins over Northwestern and Indiana. Heck, maybe they can even get a sellout this weekend for homecoming?
