Newcomers look to find roles

With little to no starting experience, picking up the complexities and schemes of the 3-3-5 defense can be a daunting task for younger players and newcomers alike.

But in order for West Virginia to have a successful season on the defensive side, those players must be counted on to fill the roles of the eight starters lost from a year ago and to provide valuable depth throughout the season.

Doug Rigg will look to hold down one of the linebacker positions after playing in all thirteen games last season. In terms of game experience, Rigg will be the most seasoned returning starter behind senior leader Najee Goode, and the true sophomore will be counted on to step up this season. Has had a very solid summer, and says he feels significantly more comfortable with the Mountaineers defense from a year-ago.
