Fla. DB makes stop in Tuscaloosa

Miami defensive back Deon Bush is in the midst of touring the schools he's interested in, and he made a stop in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday to visit the University of Alabama.

Bush, who boasts a 4.44 40-yard dash time, said the Crimson Tide program was everything he thought it would be.

The Rivals.com 4-star spent the day with UA head coach Nick Saban and got to talk with current Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick. Even though Bush plays safety for Columbus High School, the Tide coaching staff is looking at Bush to play the cornerback position.

"Saban told me he likes me out there," Bush said. "He told me that I was the typical size he wants in a cornerback. I got to talk with Dre Kirkpatrick a little bit. Everyone was on the move so I didn't get to talk long. We just had small talk."

Bush visited Auburn on Tuesday, but said Alabama is "near the top" of his list after spending the day in Tuscaloosa.

"I really liked the campus," he said. "It was nice. Alabama is a nice and beautiful campus, and I really enjoyed what I got to see. I like this place a lot."

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect said he tailors his game after New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

"I watch his games and see what he does on the field," Bush said. "(The) guy shuts people down. I want to be able to play at his level wherever I decide to go."

During the summer, Bush plans to work on his upper body strength and his hip movements.

"Nothing is perfect," Bush said. "I've got to work every day to get better. I want to get accomplishments, and to do that, I've got to be the best."

Currently, Bush holds offers from 22 other schools, and the nation's fourth-best safety hasn't decided when he will narrow his list down, but he indicated that Alabama would more likely than not make the cut.

"I want to make my visits and see what everyone has to offer," Bush said. "But I can tell you that I will definitely be making another visit to Alabama. They are in the top of the top."

The next stop for Bush on his tour of schools is scheduled to be LSU.
