Jeannette (Pa.) High School has been kind to Ohio State in recent years. The program has sent a pair of standouts in Terrelle Pryor and Jordan Hall to Columbus (Ohio) and on Friday the Buckeyes offered another top prospect from the school in class of 2012 safety Demetrious Cox. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect was certainly pleased to hear the news.

"I was really excited," said Cox of the news. "I think they have a really good tradition. It's a really good opportunity for me. I root for my boys from Jeannette (Terrelle Pryor and Jordan Hall) and I just keep trying to do what they are doing."

Cox was on campus on Friday to watch practice and will be at Saturday's spring game. After leaving campus, Cox was informed that he was the next prospect to receive a verbal offer from the Buckeyes. With a verbal offer now on the table, Cox expects to learn even more about Ohio State from both Pryor and Hall, neither of whom are shy about talking up the Buckeyes to the talented safety.

"They tell me that they will take care of me up there and that it's a great place to be," he said.

While on campus, Cox was able to talk to co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell as well as head coach Jim Tressel.

"We just talked about the opportunity that I have up there (at Ohio State) and like the academics aspect of everything," he said.

When Cox arrives at Ohio Stadium on Saturday afternoon to watch the spring game, there is one thing that he will be particularly excited about.

"Yeah, (watching) number seven," said Cox with a laugh, referring to former teammate Jordan Hall.

As a prospect that is really starting to see his stock rise, Cox is now left with a lot to think about. He holds offers from the likes of Arizona State, Boston College, Connecticut, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, among others. Right now, he's just taking everything in stride and hopes to start to narrow his list down at some point over the summer.

"I haven't narrowed anything down yet," he said. "I don't have any favorite schools or anything yet. I am looking at everybody."
