Darlington Strikes Up Far Away Friendship

One of the more interesting, and least talked about, aspects of recruiting is the relationships that develop between players who see each other at numerous events. Such a friendship began last summer between Oklahoma offensive guard targets Evan Boehm and Apopka, Fla. standout Ty Darlington. The Sunshine state native joined Boehm in Norman last weekend and the two continued a relationship that began last summer during a workout at an Oklahoma camp.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Darlington hung around Boehm as well as a few other Sooner recruits during his time in Norman.

"I like talking to Evan a lot, his dad is a football coach just as mine is and I got to talk to him while we were there and everything. Also Jordan Phillips was there and all three of us were there at the camp this summer," he said. "That was just sort of a coincidence, I didn't really know Jordan or Derek (Farniok) coming in. It was just pretty cool, that was one of my favorite parts just talking to those guys."
