McCarney recaps the defensive line

For the second time in less than 48 hours, Dan McCarney met with the media. Florida's defensive line coach weighed in on an array of topics with his usual enthusiasm. Here's a recap.

What's the state of your defensive line?
"Not a lot of changes on the depth chart. The first major scrimmage is Saturday. That's going to be really important. There are three freshmen that really continue to show up. I don't know where they're at yet. We'll have to see them in a scrimmage situation. (Sharrif) Floyd and (Ronald) Powell are all starting to pick it up and start doing some things, but they're in the heat of a lot of competition right now."

Are Brandon Antwine, Lawrence Marsh and Terron Sanders full go with the injuries they've had?
"Antwine and Sanders are. Marsh tweaked a hamstring. It's got nothing to do with his hips. He should be back the next day or two. All the other ones are doing really well. It gives you a sense of security knowing those guys are back and are quality SEC players and they've overcome a lot."

How's Jaye Howard? How's he doing?
"Good. He's got to continue to handle a bigger body now. He's between 305 and 310. He's got to get in game condition. He's working well. You know he was one of the most improved guys in Mickey Marotti's (weight) room. He could be one of the most improved guys on our defense, too."
