Randall firms things up
One of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation made the trip from Florida to Oregon last week. Hollywood (Fla.) star Jerrard Randall visited the Oregon campus during his tour of the State, and solidified his commitment to the University of Oregon.
When Duck Sports Authority caught up with the Rivals four-star player he was on his way out of town. "I'm still in Eugene right now," began Randall. "We're driving up to Seattle. We're going up there catch a Mariner's game."
Randall made his commitment to Oregon in June, the first of three quarterbacks to pledge to the Ducks in the Class of 2011. In order to comply with the Oregon staff rule of accepting commitments only after a campus visit, Randall needed to make the trip.
"I talked to them about committing," said Randall. "Coach Kelly told me that once I committed that's it, no more visits. So I just said OK Coach, then I'm committing."
Having mentored numerous top quarterbacks, Oregon head coach Chip Kelly knew he had sealed an important deal by confirming Randall's commitment.
"Coach Kelly was really excited. All the coaches were very excited. They all talked to me and congratulated me."
