Bell sees both finalists during busy weekend

Justin Bell begins fall camp Monday and will be occupied with practice and attempting to manage the sweltering Mississippi summer for the next few weeks until Callaway (Miss.) High School opens its season against Lawrence County.

Since the pads will soon go on and the focus will change, Bell and four-star teammate Aaron Morris did some traveling this past weekend. Bell, a three-star offensive guard, is down to Ole Miss and Mississippi State and visited both campuses one final time before he plans to make a decision.

Bell and Morris started their weekend in Starkville, Miss., for MSU's Big Dawg Camp Friday night and then drove to Oxford, Miss., when they left the Bulldogs' event. Saturday was spent seeing the Ole Miss campus again, and, more importantly, the town of Oxford.

While the duo has seen Ole Miss numerous times, it was important for them to check out the community and see what Oxford has going on when football's not involved.

Bell laughed when asked if any separation has occurred between the two schools and is sticking to a late-August deadline for making his commitment.

"I don't have a public leader," Bell said. "Both places are great, and it's going to be a hard decision. I'm thinking of choosing the school on August 28. So I wanted to see both places one more time and try to get my thoughts together."

Bell visited Ole Miss for its senior camp July 17 and had similar reviews for it and State's camp Friday night.

"State is always a good time, and we enjoyed it," Bell said. "We hung out for a while and then made the drive, but we wanted to make sure to see State."

Most visits to a campus involve checking in with the coaches and players, but Bell and Morris wanted to see things on their own Saturday in Oxford. The pair, along with their parents, ate dinner in town and took in the day.

"We liked what we saw and had a good time," Bell said. "It was nice to talk about it and see with my our parents. I think the weekend helped me a little bit."

Meanwhile, Morris hasn't set a timetable for his decision. Mississippi's top lineman has a top four of Ole Miss, Miss. State, Alabama and Auburn.
