Jackson a Red River Battle?

There have certainly been bigger surprises in the past, but Oklahoma finally offered one of the most athletically gifted corners, and even players for that matter, in the 2011 class. Defensive back Charles Jackson received his offer last Monday from coach Willie Martinez, which made a nice addition to Jackson's accumulating pile of school scholarships that have just begun picking up recently.

Before even a few weeks ago, Jackson's potential was just managing to surface on the boards of big universities and programs all around the country. Then, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound defender was looking at two offers; one from Arkansas and one from his hometown college, the University of Houston.

But that was then. Now the young corner's fortune has swung dramatically as he is receiving offers on a near daily basis.

In just two weeks, Jackson has brought his scholarship offer total to nine including Baylor, California, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas Tech and, most recently, Oklahoma.

"I feel great about it, I mean how much better does it get than when you get an offer from OU?" Jackson said Tuesday about his newest offer. "I was on the phone and actually saw that coach [B](James) Patton[B] had sent me a Facebook message that coach Martinez had something important to tell me."

"I figured it was going to be an offer, but I didn't want to catch myself hoping or anything. Then, a few days later, which was Monday, I called him and he asked me how I would feel if I had an offer from OU."
