Adonis Thomas ready for a busy summer

Every year, summer gets a little bit more busy for the nation's elite high school basketball players. Division One prospects travel the country from coast-to-coast for AAU tournaments. But Memphis prospect Adonis Thomas is hoping to take the travel to another level for a second consecutive summer.

Thomas, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound swingman who was born in St. Louis, played for the United States' U16 team that won a gold medal in Argentina last season and has to be considered a favorite to make this year's team. The travel schedule will limit his play on the AAU circuit this summer, but Thomas hardly needs the exposure. He is a five-star prospect and is rated as the No. 11 player in the country. He has been offered by the likes of Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas, Memphis, Missouri, Tennessee, Ohio State and others. But with so much on his plate, Thomas hasn't really started to consider where he'll play in college.

Thomas said he would like to take his official visits in the fall and make a decision by the November signing period. But he's got plenty on his calendar before that happens, starting with winning a second straight gold medal in July.
