O'Bryant hoping to narrow list soon

Mississippi has perhaps the most talented and deep basketball class in state history coming out in 2011.

One of the headliners among that group is Cleveland five-star power forward Johnny O'Bryant. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound standout from East Side High School has offers from around the nation and is in the process of cutting his list down to a manageable few.

"Me and my family are really trying to get it down to a couple of people right now," O'Bryant said. "We're still working on the list. Soon we're hoping to narrow the list down so we can make it. A bunch of new people keep coming into the picture so we want to narrow the list down so we can basically choose where I'm going to take my five visits in the fall."

Schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Memphis, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas and USC have all extended offers to the talented big man.

"With the list that I've got it's a hard decision," O'Bryant said. "I just go by who's been recruiting me the hardest and who's been showing me the most love."

But two of the biggest contenders for O'Bryant's signature seem to be coming within the state borders in Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
