Catching up with Cody Vaz

One of the gems of the 2009 recruiting class was a 3-star quarterback out of Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary's High School. Cody Vaz committed to play for Mike Riley's Beavers the moment he received an offer in June 2008.

Despite other programs like Washington, Washington State and Nebraska pursuing Vaz after he had committed, Cody stayed true to his word and now finds himself participating in his first spring camp for the Beavers.

Vaz redshirted this past season, leading the scout team offense against Mark Banker's vaunted Beaver defense. Cody got to experience what every other Pac-10 did while playing for the scout team, the fear of looking across the line and seeing the 311-pound Tongan defensive tackle, Stephen Paea.
