Spartans offer Virginia OL, make top five

Michigan State is now involved in the recruitment of Landon Turner (6-5, 304), one of the top offensive line prospects in the southeastern part of the country, and the Spartans sit well with the Harrisonburg (Va.) product.

"It's just now getting started as far as getting to know the coaches and everything," Turner told about his recruitment in regards to the Spartans. "The main thing is I was up there for seven years, and they were on my list. It's just they weren't in the forefront or anything. Then they offered me (a couple weeks ago) and I just thought I'd get to know more about it. I just want to make the most educated decision possible."

What Turner means by saying he was "up there for seven years" is he's a one-time East Lansing resident, which gives him a bit of a history with all things MSU.

But that doesn't necessarily mean Turner's time in East Lansing makes him a die-hard Spartan fan, though he does admit a past allegiance to the green and white.

History helped the Spartans get involved in this recruitment. Turner said he and his stepdad, who once worked at MSU, sought of the Spartans more than the other way around. It turned out to be a good move, as he now holds a Spartan offer.
