KU downs Texas in Austin

Bill Self's first win in Austin couldn't have come at a better time. In defeating No. 14 Texas (19-5; 5-4), 80-68, No. 1 ranked Kansas (23-1; 9-0) took a commanding lead in the Big 12 conference standings. Trailing 14-8 early in the first half, the Jayhawks exploded for 22 straight points and took a 10 point into the break. Texas, which found itself down by as many as 19 points in the second half, closed to within eight points late in the contest, but would get no closer. Marcus Morris scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
