Carswell ready to join Tide
Wide receiver Ronald Carswell may be one of the top sleepers of the Alabama Crimson Tide's stellar 2010 recruiting class and this weekend the Macon, Ga. playmaker was in Tuscaloosa on his official visit to get a closer look at where he'll be spending his college career.
"Jonathan Atchison was my official host - you could tell he was from Georgia. All of us Georgia guys sort of act the same way and carry ourselves the same way. I think we all have a lot of confidence in ourselves. We went to a few parties last night. I got to hang out with [/db]Blake Sims[/db] and Nick Perry and it was a real fun night. I knew most of the guys already so it was sort of like a reunion from camps and stuff like that.
Carswell got down to business Sunday when he spoke with head coach Nick Saban one on one about his future at Alabama.
"We talked about once I enter school that there will be a big adjustment for me. I will have a lot of things to balance, and part of the staff's job is making sure I am on a regular schedule, that I handle my school work first and football second. They have a lot of support for all of the football players and it really makes it tough to not succeed. All you have to do is put in the work."
"They like me as slot receiver and as a kick returner. Coach Saban said there is a lot of open competition at receiver and they are looking forward to me coming in and contributing."
Like most of the other recruits visiting Tuscaloosa this weekend, Carswell was thoroughly impressed with the fan turnout for the Tide's national championship celebration.
"It was very nice out there. I loved hearing the captains speak and presenting trophies. I was honored to be a part of it. All of the recruits were talking about how great it is going to be for us to get our chance to be up there real soon. I'll be coming to Tuscaloosa on June 1st so it won't be long until I'm officially a part of the team. I can't wait."
