Record setting quarterback announcing Tuesday
One of the South's most sought after quarterbacks is only hours away from announcing his college destination.
Marietta, Ga., record breaking signal caller Hutson Mason will decide on live television Tuesday night on "In the Huddle" hosted by Rivals recruiting analyst Jamie Newberg on CSS at 6 p.m. CST.
"I am going down to one of the local shows, 'In the Huddle' on CSS with Jamie Newberg," Mason said. "I'm going to go on there and just talk about recruiting and they will ask me a couple of questions for about five minutes and then at the very end I'll have a Clemson, Mississippi State and Georgia hat out."
Mason has seen his stock skyrocket in the past few weeks following his stellar senior season at Lassiter High Schoool. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder has collected offers from Clemson, Georgia, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, Central Michigan, Florida State, Indiana, UAB, Virginia and Western Michigan.
"It's been pretty hectic," Mason said. "I've picked up eight offers in about a two and a half month time span. Some of those I got two in one day but it's a good hectic though. You want to have options to chose from and it was better than the situation that I was in before. It's an opportunity that I am thankful for."
Mason led Lassiter to a 12-1 record and into the third round of the Class AAAAA playoffs throwing for 4,582 yards, 57 touchdowns and completing 74-percent of his throws. He became the first quarterback in Georgia high school history to surpass 4,000 yards in a season.
