V-Cast: Comp and PK on win over Western

EAST LANSING - Michigan State moved within a game of bowl eligibility on Saturday with a decisive 49-14 over Western Michigan University.

The Spartans totalled more than 600 yards of total offense against the Broncos and managed to eclipse 200 yards rushing in a football game for the first time all season.

Michigan State was also strong through the air as sophomore quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 22-of-25 for 353 yards and two touchdowns.

Afterward staffers Jim Comparoni and Paul Konyndyk stepped outside Spartan Stadium to discuss all of the major developments in the game including the breakout performance of sophomore running back Ashton Leggett.

A reserve back who has bounced between the practice squad and the playing group this season, Leggett became the first Spartan running back to rush for more than 100 yards in a game this season. Leggett also did his best Jehuu Caulcrick imerpsonation near the goal line.

After scoring on a 71-yard run the first time he touched the ball, Leggett punched the ball into the end zone on touchdown runs of 2, 1, and 13 yards respectively.

Michigan State was also able to use the Western Michigan game as an opportunity to get healthy. The Spartans played several reserve players against the Broncos. In the second half, Michigan State had success moving the football with the second-string offensive line.
