Practice Insider: Barkley steady on the road

Regardless of what happens from here on out during USC's season, Matt Barkley will have been tested, and those tests will have come in some of college football's least friendly environments.

Barkley's started games at Ohio State, Cal, Notre Dame and Oregon, and Saturday, he'll lead the Trojans on the road one final time as USC takes on Arizona State.

While Barkley will finish the season with a winning record on the road (he's 3-1 now), the real reward will come down the road.

"It's been preparing me for what it's like on the road, especially in some of the biggest environments that this country has to offer," he said. "It just made me realize what type of football is out there and how crazy fans can be and not everyone is a Trojan fan. It's good. These losses are humbling. It makes you realize you've got to come back and work harder and really be better than everyone else."
