Charlotte sophomore guard a name to watch

Most of the attention around Vance High in Charlotte is focused on sophomore guard Marquis Rankin, but he is not alone. His classmate and backcourt mate Jacoby Davis is a name to watch as well.

Davis, 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, was part of a Vance team that was one of the favorites to win the 4-A state title this year. However, they were knocked out by the eventual state champ Mount Tabor High from Winston-Salem.

"It's funny cause they normally beat us in the scrimmage, and we beat them in the season," Davis noted. "This year we beat them in the scrimmage, and they beat us in the game.

"I have been in the gym everyday. I have been working hard ever since the Mt. Tabor game, back in the gym everyday. It was a real heartbreaker."
