Southern Miss preview

For the second straight Tuesday Mississippi State will travel back to Trustmark Park in Pearl.

This time the Bulldogs are hoping for better results. MSU fanned 16 times in a 6-3 loss to Ole Miss last week and will face another tough instate rival in Southern Miss tonight at 6:30 p.m.

The Diamond Dogs fared well against USM last season winning their annual meeting in Pearl 5-4 and then ending the Golden Eagles season in the Atlanta Regional with a 3-0 victory. Those two wins upped State's advantage to 76-36 all time in the series but are just 1-2 against them in Pearl.

In their last meeting in Atlanta, Luis Pollorena and Caleb Reed combined for an eight-hit shutout against Southern Miss while centerfielder C.T. Bradford paced the club offensively going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
