South Alabama preview

Coming off their first Southeastern Conference series win of the season, Mississippi State hopes to carry the momentum into tonight taking on South Alabama.

The non-conference midweek matchup is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at Dudy Noble Field where the Bulldogs are 18-6 on the year.

MSU owns a 40-24 lead in the series and a 22-13 mark in games played in Starkville.

The Diamond Dogs won last year's meeting on the road with a 10-run rally for a 15-9 victory. Right fielder Brent Brownlee came off the bench with two triples, a double and five RBI's to spark the comeback.

State is coming off a SEC series win over Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs won 7-4 Friday night before falling in 12-innings Saturday 4-3. A walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth by sophomore designated hitter Daryl Norris gave homestanding Mississippi State the 8-7 win on Sunday to improve to 20-12 on the year.
